Job Title: Metal Roof/General Maintenance Technician  

Starting Salary: $40,000

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

 

Job Summary

A maintenance technician is responsible for conducting general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures and to maintain the Accomack County Public School facilities and common areas in the best possible condition.  The metal roof portion of this position would require someone highly skilled in maintaining and inspecting standing seam metal roofs.

 

Essential Duties

  • Repair faulty equipment and damaged structures.
  • Inspect buildings and systems to identify issues.
  • Implement preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Repair roof systems, perform roof maintenance, perform roof inspection, and perform gutter clean out.
  • Ensure that electrical, heating, cooling, and plumbing systems perform at optimum functionality.
  • Other duties as required.

 

 

Job Specifications

Proactive worker requiring minimal supervision, with excellent work prioritization ability, excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, versatility in maintenance responsibilities, a strong working knowledge of a variety of tools and equipment, and good understanding of general maintenance processes and methods.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities, who are otherwise qualified, to perform the essential functions.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Three to Five years related experience in general facilities maintenance.  Possession of a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. 

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
