POSITION:  Superintendent of Schools

LOCATION:  School Board Office

FMLA STATUS:  Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or Curriculum and Instruciton, Doctorate is preferred. Must hold a Virginia State License in Administration and Supervision Pre K-12 upon time of hire. Must be proficient in the use of technology. Must have excellent organizational skills and oral and written communication skills. A thorough understanding of research on related to successful educational practices is essential.

 

SUMMARY:  To serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Accomack County Public Schools. To serve as a leader who defines, communicates, motivates, and collaborates with staff to implement the academic vision of the organization. This position is an ideal opportunity to play a transformative role for Accomack County Public Schools by supporting and driving performance through a variety of metrics reflecting academic success and school culture. The Superintendent works closely with the Senior  Leadership Team in the planning and execution of the Accomack County Public Schools’ mission, vision, and goals.  To ensure a strong commitment to the Accomack County community and to facilitate effective collaboration with district personnel, the successful candidate must establish residency within Accomack County within six months of accepting the position.
